Shenandoah National Park
Black Bear (Ursus americanus)

As you walk a trail or drive along Skyline Drive, you might meet a black bear, possibly a mother with her cub or cubs. A bear cub, when born in late winter, weighs only about 8 ounces. It is hard to believe that this cub will grow to 300 - 500 pounds. Stamped: June 28, 2009

FOR loving the city
Translated as (from German): We live in the city because we love it. No other place is so inspiring, so exciting, so diverse. Where others see chaos, we see beauty. Where others complain about noise, we listen to music. And where others feel restricted, we see plenty of space.

Texas Jackalope
The first white man to see this singular fauna specimen was a trapper named George McLean in 1829. When he told of it later he was promptly denounced as a liar. An odd trait of the Jackalope is its ability to imitate the human voice. Cowboys singing to their herds at night have been startled to hear their lonesome melodies repeated faithfully from some nearbly hillside. The phantom echo comes from the throat of some Jackalope. They sing only on dark nights before a thunderstorm. Stories that they sometimes get together and sing in chorus is discounted by those who know them best.

Europe. Roe Deer. Capreolus capreolus
The mother and child of Europe's smallest and most common deer find each other through sounds. White spots on the fawn - scentless, and therefore safe from predators such as badgers reliant on smell - fade before their winter's coat arrives at the end of autumn.
