This large bubble, discernible as the dark central area in the image, was created when gas was expelled by massive, tightly clumped-together stars. The burst of energy created the "holes" in space dust (designated by two bright yellowish spots, at the west and south ends of the large bubble.

Sola Fide Observatory houses a 10" refractor under a 12' dome. Located on 3 acres of land, the observatory is owned by the City of Austin. The observatory is open to the public two Saturdays a month.
