Papineau
South of the Kankakee-Iroquois County line, the original alignment of the Dixie Highway followed Main Street, now East Avenue, through Papineau from 1915 to 1920. After concrete paving was completed in 1920, downtown Papineau was bypassed. Papineau has a number of businesses catering to passing motorists including the William Wilfe Buffet and Jule Clement's Restaurant.

This aerial view of Chicago Height's shows Bloom High School (center), Chicago Road (right), and the Dixie Highway angling off to the left. The Dixie Highway cutoff eliminated the ring-angle turns of the orgininal alignment on Joe Orr Road and Chicago Road.

Chicago
Located on Lake Michigan, just east of Chicago's downtown, Navy Pier has been a Chicago landmark since it first opened in 1916. Originally designed as both a shipping and recreational facility, the Pier also served as a military training site during two world wars, a venue for concerts and exhibitions, and the temporary home for a once-fledging University of Illinois' Chicago campus. Today, Navy Pier showcases a unique collection of restaurants andf shops in addition to unequalled recreational facilities.

MILLENIUM PARK
Chicago

The once underused corner of Grant Park is now a world-class public space. The Jay Spritzker Pavilion seats 4,000, plus has a 95,000 square-foot lawn area. It is crowned with a stainless steel trellis that defines the space and provides a place to hang speakers for concert goers' enjoyment. The park is recognized as Chicago's newest cultural venue.
